Turkey and Somali Signed a Memorandum of Understaning on Fishing
The Turkish State Gazette on Wednesday published a news report about a memorandum of understanding between Turkey and Somalia on cooperation in fishing and fish farming.
The memorandum was signed in January last year by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Ahmed Ashraf Fakibaba, and by the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Abdulrahman Mohammed Abdi Hashi on the Somali side during a ceremony in Ankara.
According to the memorandum, the Somali Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources granted permission to Turkish boats and vessels to fish within Somali territorial waters.
The terms of the memorandum also included the implementation of joint projects between the two countries aimed at developing fishing and aquaculture techniques, scientific research and information exchange, as well as increased cooperation to improve fishing surveillance systems.
